The Monastery of the Infant Jesus, in the East Texas pinelands, is a community of cloistered Dominican
nuns called by God to a life of total consecration. We strive to embody the timeless ideals which our
founder, St. Dominic, gave to his first nuns established at Prouilhe, France in 1206.
St. Dominic associated the nuns with his "holy preaching" by their prayer and penance.
The nuns are to seek, ponder, and call upon God in solitude so that
"the word proceeding from the mouth of God may not return to him empty, but may accomplish those
things for which it was sent."
(cf. Is. 55:10) -from the Fundamental Constitution of the Nuns.
As contemplative Dominican Nuns of the Monastery of the Infant Jesus, our mission is to witness to the Gospel by a hidden life of prayer and sacrifice on behalf of all God's people. The presence of the Eucharist makes of our monastery a kind of Bethlehem:
-where Christ is loved and adored;
-where charity flowing from the Eucharist unites us as a community in mutual love and respect;
-and from which his love radiates to the whole world, especially to those whom He sends into our lives.
